  1. With this being 4000 pieces, $400+ and pretty similar in size to recent modulars like the Detective's Office, it's essentially just Lego forcing you to buy 2 modulars at once (in a single box). Love the interior details, strongly dislike the small/cramped exterior, and overall disappointed in this set. To me this is akin to Assault on Hoth: It's got the price tag and piece count to be something amazing but instead they just stuck a bunch of little models together.
  2. I agree with this. I think the Death Star set(s) will be to the Star Wars theme what the police station is to the City theme (though obviously larger and more expensive)
  3. Shaking my head at the guy who posted an obvious scam, and everyone who reposted it via quote...
  4. Have you got a source for this or are you just making stuff up? The minifigs sold very well, to my knowledge, but there's no aftermarket for them because Lego produced so many of them.
  5. Why are people comparing an exclusive set to collectible minifigs? CMFs are a massively overproduced $4 item, of course you're not making money off of them.
  6. I'm pretty displeased about the re-releasing of CMFs that is happening. CMFs at $4 were already pretty expensive, but my justification was that it was worth paying a premium for some of the unique figs that required new molds made specifically for that fig. But if they just re-release them (with no color change or anything even) later then I'll be much less inclined to spend that much on something that isn't collectible. (That is what the C is supposed to stand for) All of the re-releasing that Lego has been doing is shaking my confidence in the longer term value of the product and making me think twice about buying sets. And I mean this purely as a collector, I'm not even getting into the investing aspect of it where the effects will be felt even more. I always knew remakes were inevitable, that is nothing new, but the number of unchanged re-releases continues to grow.
  7. I really don't see how any UCS Starkiller base can be considered plausible. This is the company that couldn't make Echo base anything more than a door and a snowbank, and people expect them to model an entire planet in UCS fashion?
  8. I didn't expect them to make a true replica of the base from the film, but I did hope for a cohesive structure. I think the simplest method would be to build a square snow structure on a large baseplate, with openings on each of the four sides (hangar, control room, wampa cave, etc.) sort of like a single floor of 10188, if you can picture that. Then add scattered figs and vehicles as necessary. No it's not accurate (I'm pretty sure the wampa cave was not on the side of the base) but it makes most of the base one big model that is suitable for both play and display, like the Ewok Village is. Even some sort of a hinged model would have worked for this set. I agree that it's something that's challenging to model perfectly but they still could've easily done better.
  9. I'm preparing for disappointment on this one. I'd love to be surprised and see this set have some display qualities but all signs point to a very expensive bundling of play sets.
  10. Bought a few of these. The shark guy is as awesome as expected and my favorite in the series, with the clumsy guy on crutches a distant second.
  11. Just for anyone who doesn't notice, the Slave 1 in that picture IS 75060 with some lighting effects.
  12. Hopefully this sets the table for a real rollercoaster on-par with the Ferris Wheel. They would need to design some new track pieces though so I wouldn't hold my breath
  13. I hate the mixer, but I think it will do fine. There are people out there who like it and there will be others in the future. I wouldn't buy a lot of them though, personally.
  14. You've got 15+ years of experience and have been incredibly loyal to your past employer. Those will not go unnoticed and you'll get hired by someone else pretty quickly I'd bet. Good luck
  15. They have done remakes, but they have done them sparingly. Usually after a long period of time has passed as well. (Over a decade for the UCS Xwing and rumored UCS snowspeeder remake, a bit less than a decade for the Sandcrawler) And in many cases, they updated models with new building techniques and minifigs to reflect the display quality that fans have come to expect nowadays. If they remake too often, and without any meaningful improvements (a la Winter Village Toy Shop) that will absolutely bring down secondary market prices. 10179 is the premier example of Lego's collectibility and remaking it so soon (it's only been gone, what, 5 or 6 years now?) is damaging to the perceived value of Lego as long term investment, to some degree. I do think they'll remake it at some point, because they could charge a fortune for it and still sell tons of them. Remakes are inevitable but they should be very careful about how they do it and how often they do it.
