How to find about upcoming retirements?

Recommended Posts

Hi fellow brickvestors, is there any other source of information besides the LEGO Shop at Home product listing and the store salesmen concerning retirements? I'm thinking of buying the fire brigade and the 7965 Millenium Falcon, since the first one is the oldest available modular set at LEGO Shop at Home and the second one approaches the two-year time span. Insider info someone?

The short answer is that Retirements are based on rumors......the average lifespan of any given set in the past has been 2-3 years. I am guessing with recent boom in Lego investing that will change and sets will be available longer. You will not find dates that a set will go EOL anywhere..........let me say that again, ANYWHERE!

I recall someone here saying average life of set is 3 years, but nobody should bank on that (there's set that seems to never retire). It all depends on intangible factors - like TLG deciding out of blue some sets should retire, other factors like a TV show no longer being in production, etc.
