LEGO Star Wars the Force Awakens Video Game Coming 6/28/16

Recommended Posts

Many Bothans died to bring us this information. The official Xbox website has launched a page showing screen captures from an upcoming entrant into the LEGO Star Wars game series. This time it is Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The date given for the release of this game is 6/28/16. Players will be able to play as their favorite new and classic Star Wars character. One screen capture shows Han, Leia, and Chewbacca as they appear in the 75094 Imperial Shuttle Tydirium set. What that means about playing older movie scenes has not been shown yet.

Is this the release that will come with the FN-2187 Polybag that has been spotted, but has no official release information?

The leaked trailer on YouTube mirrors the trailer for the film. At the end it shows that the game will be released on the following platforms PS4, PS3, PS Vita, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, and PC.

UPDATE: The Official LEGO Star Wars Facebook page has added the official version of the video, not the bad camera recording that I linked earlier.

A whole game for one movie? I am used to 3-6 movies in a Lego game. Wonder how they will do this. I feel like I should just wait and buy the ep 7-9 game when it comes out or the inevitable ep 1-9 game that will 100% for sure come out.

They did a whole game just for the LEGO Movie and that worked out pretty well, game was fun and endearing though admittedly shorter than most other LEGO games (in that it had fewer levels and less bonus content and stuff to do).

Guess we'll be seeing a new LEGO game for every Star Wars release now, which is a shame, but if they do it well could still be fine.

Worst one was when they did the LEGO Hobbit game, only included the first two movies with the third meant to be DLC. only they never bothered making it - so the game is still incomplete.

Yep and the Lego Movie game was not even worth the $25 I spent on it it was so short and easy. I can't imagine the people that paid $60 for it. The Lego Hobbit game was easily the worst of them all. I couldn't even finish it. I used to love these games and buy and enjoy them all but I think I may just be done with them. They are heading towards a direction I do not enjoy anymore. Of course I am not the type of person that likes reality TV or pop music or fast food of football either so I am aware that I am like no company out there's demographic.

This game is going to be rather weird since most likely you are not going to have access to Jedi and/or lightsaber until the middle of the game for good guys.  I doubt you get access to Kylo Ren in the beginning of the game.  For comparison, on ep 4-6 game we got Obi Wan pretty early in chapter 2 of movie 4.  On ep 1-3 game, both Qui-Gon and young Obi Wan were on chapter 1 movie 1.  In Clone Wars, you could not turn around without bumping to a Jedi :D

I'm going to throw out some speculation here. I think at the beginning of the game, you get some levels from prior Star Wars movies. This would help to increase the amount of content and allow earlier access to lightsabers, droids, and short characters.

Yeah they have to borrow a lot of things from previous episodes. ;););)

The other thing TFA lacks is variety of vehicles.  Even in New Hope, we got X-Wing, Y-Wing, and MF on the light side.  TFA only offers 2 colors of X-Wing and MF

Those graphics are amazing though. They look just like the movie with Lego models substituting the vehicles, characters, and some buildings. Can't wait to pre-order two copies of the game (one to play on the PC, and another for 3DS just for the polybag, since it's cheaper). This is gonna be a fun game!

EDIT: Nvm about pre-ordering the copies, guess I'll just settle in for a PS4 preorder, then exchange the game for a PC version since I'm PC. And I still get the polybag :D.

  • 1 month later...

We had fun with this game on our PS4... but now thinking about selling it / trading it in... any reason I should NOT do this?  I remember when it came out, there was something about the "gold edition" ... possible future expansions to the game... etc? Does that ever really happen?
